Good news everyone , if you are using the new HyppTV box with Android. There is an exploit out there which allows you to run Play Store , install apks and basically transform the boring HyppTV into something new.

This enables roots , allows you to install a lot of programs from the Play Store (and other Google Apps) to the HyppTV box , which takes the HyppTV box to entirely a new level

Things You Need :-

HyppTV – the new one that runs on Android (such as the one below) – I have the old one and that does not work

A Pen Drive – which is <4GB (can work with >4GB , but recommended) . Please format it as FAT32/FAT and not as NTFS or other format. This is very important

WARNING : IT WILL VOID THE WARRANTY OF YOUR HYPPTV . ALSO AFTER FLASHING , IF YOUR HYPPTV IS DEAD AND TURNED INTO A PAPER WEIGHT , I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE. FLASH IT AT YOUR OWN RISK !

Step 1

Download the ready made gapps-hypptv.zip It contains the basic Google framework and play store which allows you to download apps from Play Store

[ADVANCED USERS] If you are interested to make your own package (bundled with your own apps and apk) you may want to get this. It contains a guide on how to bundle your own applications and such.

Step 2

Rename gapps-hypptv.zip to update.zip . Then Put the update.zip inside Pen Drive – Make sure your Pen Drive is formatted as FAT

Step 3

Plug in the USB Pen drive to HyppTV . Then turn HyppTV STB off To do so go behind the HyppTV STB and turn it off , there is an OFF/ON Toggle. Next , take the remote , press and hold the ON button and turn the HyppTV On.

If you do it correctly you’ll get a screen something like this

Using Remote Control , go to Apply Update from External Storage and choose the update.zip

WARNING : PLEASE DO NOT TURN OFF THE HYPPTV STB WHEN IT IS UPGRADING ! THIS IS IMPORTANT

Once it is done , it will reboot

Step 5

Go to Applications and Voila , you should see Play Store and such. Enjoy !

What If my HyppTV died/gave problems?

Well , you may try to follow Steps 1 to 3 again , this time selecting Factory Reset option. !

Eksploit Pada HyppTV (Huawei EC6106V5) Membolehkan Aplikasi Android Dijalankan

Bagi mereka yang menggunakan HyppTV model Huawei EC6106V5 STB (HiMedia Q2/Q3/Q4), mungkin sedia perasan akan mengenai ia menggunakan sistem berasaskan Android 4.0.3. Namun, terdapat beberapa kekangan yang yang membuatkan pengguna tidak boleh menggunakan aplikasi Android pada sistem berkenaan.Ini kerana sistem tersebut telah mematikan sokongan untuk memasang aplikasi Android daripada sumber luar (melalui penggunaan APK yang dimuat-turun dari pelayar web).

Namun, seperti kebanyakkan sistem Android, kini salah seorang pembangun tempatan – Akif Rabbani (@akifrabbani) – yang mana telah menemui cara untuk mengatasi perkara tersebut dan memasang aplikasi Android pada HyppTV anda.

Untuknya, sebuah fail sistem disediakan yang mana pengguna perlu melalui beberapa fasa untuk memasangnya. Seperti biasa, ia tidak digalakkan untuk memasang sekiranya anda ragu-ragu atau takut untuk mengambil risiko, apatah lagi sebarang kerosakkan tidak ditanggung.

Menurut pembangun tersebut, beliau telah menguji beberapa aplikasi dan bukan semuanya berjalan dengan lancar. YouTube dilihat dapat dijalankan tanpa masalah, sementara Spotify pula dilihat tidak berfungsi.
